Our impact
With the support of NBCDI and its local community partners, BCDI-Miami delivers high-quality resources that respond to the unique strengths and needs of Black children and their families. BCDI-Miami partners with child-serving agencies and grassroots organizations to implement culturally relevant and culturally responsive programs
The BCDI-Miami Read To Succeed program had a positive impact on the community by distributing over 1,650 books to children and their families during the summer of 2023. This was made possible through grant funding from the National Black Child Development Institute and Miami-Dade County Safe in The 305 Grant. By providing tools and materials to improve reading skills, the program promoted early literacy and language development. The event received positive feedback and successfully created an environment for fresh ideas, constructive feedback, and clear goals for the community through workshops.
Additionally, BCDI-Miami was able to receive a community enhancement grant award, allowing for the beginning of discussions and enhancing the work on building community partnerships through advocacy in distressed communities. This demonstrates their commitment to addressing issues related to housing, family engagement, and public infrastructure improvements. Overall, the program’s impact can be seen in the increased access to printed resources, the establishment of at-home libraries, and the collaborative efforts to find solutions for community-identified issues.
