SUMMARY:NBCDI 2025 Annual Conference
DESCRIPTION:The NBCDI 2025 Annual Conference\, taking place on October 24–26 in Atlanta\, Georgia\, is one of the most influential national gatherings dedicated to advancing the well-being of Black children and families. This dynamic event brings together educators\, advocates\, leaders\, creators\, and change-makers who are committed to building a brighter\, more equitable future. \nThis year’s conference is organized around three bold tracks\, each addressing key areas that shape the lives\, opportunities\, and futures of Black children: \nTrack 1: Education\nThis track focuses on challenging systems and policies that restrict Black children’s access to culturally responsive\, joyful\, and affirming learning environments. It highlights the importance of preserving Black history\, identity\, and culture—especially in the face of book bans and anti-DEI policies. Sessions will explore how to create educational spaces where Black children feel valued\, safe\, and seen. \nTrack 2: Health & Wellness\nCentered on the belief that wellness is liberation\, this track takes a holistic approach to health—physical\, emotional\, mental\, spiritual\, environmental\, and ancestral. Presentations will discuss dismantling harmful systems\, promoting wellness equity\, and building healing-centered environments that support the full well-being of Black children and their families. \nTrack 3: Digital Safety\nThis track explores both the opportunities and challenges Black children face in digital spaces. From creativity and learning to exposure to bias and surveillance\, attendees will learn how to design safer\, more affirming digital environments. The focus is on protecting children while expanding their access to empowering and joyful tech experiences. \nThis year also marks the launch of the Inaugural Book\, Toy & Media Awards\, honoring the most culturally affirming content created by and for Black communities. Award winners will be announced live at the conference on October 25. \nWith keynote speakers such as Jason Reynolds and several distinguished honorees—including authors\, creators\, and influential leaders—this conference promises meaningful conversations\, innovative ideas\, and inspiring experiences for all attendees.
